Let Your Style Be Unique In The Mens Zoot Suits

THE ZOOT FASHION

Mens Zoot Suits also known as the extreme drapes because of their resemblance to the drapes suit but differed in the volume of the attire. The zoot attire had the suit jacket which reached the wearer's fingertips, with wide lapels and padded shoulders to amplify the upper body, they also had pants that were plaited and worn up the waist the pants were wide at the thighs and knee section before being tied tightly at the ankles. The Zoot suits also were worn with pointed shoes that matched with the belt, a fedora hat that had feathers and a long key chain that went all the way to the knees.

History of Mens Zoot Suits

The Zoot Suit Mens history dates back around the period of World War II when they were worn as a sign of rebellion by minority groups especially the African-Americans and Mexican-Americans who were being targeted by the soldiers and the police terming them “unpatriotic”. This led to a civil unrest with the law enforcers purporting that the zooters were involved in gangs later the Zoot Suit Mens was outlawed then banned because of the profligacy of cloth the authorities rationed the materials for civilian use.

However, the fashion was later picked up by jazz musicians across the United States but was hard to find and very expensive. At the beginning of the ‘80s, Japanese designers had models wear Mens Zoot Suits to the runway and then spread to areas in Canada, France, and The Soviet Union. The style currently is donned by individuals to costume parties or even Halloween.

For many individuals who are wearing zoots at this era is usually as a symbol of paying homage to their community elders who had to endure segregation because of their fashion sense. Some even wear it to ensure a continuum of their culture and conserving a history.
